Board hears administration—s recommendation to approve custodial-unit tentative agreement; motion approved
Summary

Brenda Albrecht, executive director of administrative services, told the Lakeville Area School Board on Feb. 11 that the district and SEIU had reached a tentative agreement covering the custodial unit for the 2024—6 contract cycle and recommended board approval.
Albrecht summarized the highlights: a 2.25% across-the-board increase to the custodial wage schedule effective Jan. 1, 2025 (year one) and a 4.75% across-the-board increase effective July 1, 2025 (year two); the addition of longevity pay to improve retention; increases to 403(b) employer contributions; and an increase in sick-leave buyback to encourage attendance. She said the total package is within board-established parameters and characterized the total cost at 9.41% of relevant compensation measures.
A board member moved to approve the settlement and the motion was seconded; Director Amber Cameron seconded the motion as recorded in the public proceeding. The board approved the agreement by voice vote: "All in favor, say aye," and the chair declared the motion passed. The administration said the agreement had already been ratified by the custodial unit.
Ending: The board approved the tentative agreement. Administration said the settlement fits within budget parameters and was ratified by union membership; the item recorded no roll-call vote and passed by voice vote.
