Subcommittee advances bill requiring telehealth access, private space for incarcerated Virginians

"This is a bill that basically aims to expand access to health care to inmates and to accommodate their needs, and to allow them to participate in telehealth appointments, including having a dedicated private space for such appointments to occur," Senator Pokarski said.
The bill directs the Department of Corrections and the Virginia Board of Local and Regional Jails to provide an update to the Joint Commission on Health Care by Oct. 1, 2025, describing the telehealth policies they will establish and opportunities to expand telehealth programs. No public testimony was recorded for the item during the hearing.
After brief committee discussion, a motion to report SB 10 39 out of the subcommittee was made and properly seconded. The clerk closed the roll and the bill was reported by a 4-to-1 vote. The record does not name the mover or seconder of the motion.
