Bridgeport Police Chief Britta told the Borough Council on Feb. 11 that investigators have identified people involved in a recent regional vehicle theft pattern that included a stolen Honda CR-V in Bridgeport last week.
Chief Britta (first reference) said the individuals identified are part of a group operating across the region; she said charges will be pursued and that suspects will be transported from a New Jersey location to Pennsylvania for prosecution. She also noted an incident in which tires were dumped in the 500 block of Bush Street; an officer identified as Officer Bailey followed up and helped recover the property.
Chief Britta also addressed social-media posts about a crossing guard who had fallen. She said the crossing guard, Mr. Hessel, is recovering and that the department is monitoring his recovery. The chief thanked department staff and crossing guards for their work during recent weather and Super Bowl-related activity.
The remarks were presented as operational updates during the chief’s report and did not include requests for new council action. No new policy decisions were recorded in the spoken meeting text.
