Routt County commissioners on Jan. 27 said they will continue the county's sponsorship of the local Chamber of Commerce at the same $4,000 level used the previous year, drawing the funding from the county's $10,000 discretionary budget.
County staff described the sponsorship package as a $3,500 base sponsorship plus an additional $500 that in the prior year was directed to a chamber "navigator" program. Commissioners agreed to maintain the $4,000 level and to clarify how the additional $500 will be allocated in a later conversation with staff.
Staff said the sponsorship typically includes event tickets and complimentary memberships; sponsoring also provides discounts on additional tickets and helps make staff professional development available locally. One staff member noted prior use of complimentary tickets by county staff and encouraged continued staff participation in chamber events.
Commissioners also discussed budget pressures and cautioned that rising costs and uncertain revenues could reduce discretionary external sponsorships later in 2025. No formal vote was recorded; the agreement was presented as the commission's direction to staff to proceed at the same sponsorship level.
