Routt County approves Amendment 26 for taxiway Bravo expansion; project funded with DOLA and OEDIT grants

The Routt County Board of County Commissioners voted Jan. 14 to approve and authorize the chair to sign Amendment 26 (FY2025) for the Taxiway B expansion and Taxi Lane F construction project.

Colin Walt, operations, safety and security superintendent at the airport, presented the item. He said the county has been working with engineering firm Mead & Hunt to design a widened Taxiway Bravo to accommodate larger general aviation aircraft as new hangars and development proceed on the east end of the runway. Walt said the work covers widening an existing narrow segment and adding a new east–west taxiway to integrate with ongoing development in that area.

County staff told commissioners the project is funded through state and local grant sources and that no supplemental budget is required: funds will come from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) and grants administered through the Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) and an OJT grant. Commissioners moved to approve the amendment, seconded the motion, and approved it by voice vote.

During discussion, commissioners and staff noted the county would arrange a site visit so commissioners could see the work progressing on the ground. Commissioners also thanked airport staff for recent operational responses to incidents and for ongoing project oversight.

Motion recorded in the meeting: "Approve and authorize the chair to sign attached Amendment 26 FY2025 Taxiway B expansion and Taxi Lane F construction project; no supplemental budget required as project is coming from DOLA and OEDIT/OJT grants." The motion carried on a voice vote.
