Board approves consent agenda including construction work and casts MASB vote for Randall Meisner

The bundle included multiple contract awards and change orders (awards to AMCOM, Access, HopSkip Drive Inc.; change orders and construction-related approvals listed as items 5–9), approval of noninstructional and instructional personnel items, approval of financial statements, January 2025 graduates, donations, and the appointment of administrators. Board materials summarized the items as: approvals of vendor awards, several construction and renovation scopes (including expanded work at the Henry Ford Early College/West Building), and personnel appointments (including an assistant principal appointment to Woodworth Middle School and a special-education coordinator). Trustee Watts supported the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Announcements and personnel confirmations followed the votes. Superintendent Malayko introduced Douglas Ratcliffe, previously serving as interim, who the district then named as principal of Woodworth (the board acknowledged his appointment). The board also welcomed Carrie Schoolmaster to an administrative role announced at the meeting.
Requests from the public and board discussion also asked for clearer, districtwide protocols for when weather-related closures affect extracurricular activities; that topic was discussed in citizen comment and board members asked staff to return with a consistent process for activities during school closures.
