The Dearborn City School District board on Feb. 10 publicly acknowledged eight recent donations to district schools, listing cash gifts, classroom supplies, furniture and other items.
District staff (Mr. Wall) reported eight donations: $1,600 from the Dearborn Education Foundation to Salina Intermediate School for phonics books; $275 from the Dearborn Education Foundation to Macaulay Unit School for a library project; $240 from the Dearborn Education Foundation to McCallough Elementary School for a "bingo for books" event; a pallet of construction paper and markers from Wazit Youssef for GSRP classrooms at Connor School; $650 from Fred Bello to Duval Elementary School to support a new sensory room; a donated couch and loveseat from Detroit Furniture for Fordson High School to support students with physical needs; 103 handmade blankets and hats from DIWA Pro Michigan for Howe School; and a full-size refrigerator donated to Howe School by Nusir Ahmoud and Neema Mohasin to support post-secondary cooking and life-skills activities.
"We definitely thank those partners and private citizens who have donated to our district," the board noted after the report. The transcript records the list and the board's appreciation; no further action or vote on allocating the donations was recorded in the meeting minutes excerpted in the public transcript.
The donations were presented as part of the recognition and acknowledgments portion of the agenda.
