Ranch staff propose Blue Arena improvements; commissioners ask to preserve acknowledgement wall prominence

Staff presented a sample design to show materials, colors and furnishings; Ellis told the board the images were illustrative rather than final renderings.
Staff raised the acknowledgement wall question after ranch staff asked whether the wall should remain intact, be moved as one piece, or be relocated in sections. Commissioners said the wall contains historical information and craftsmanship worth preserving and recommended keeping it in a prominent campus location if it must move. One commissioner said preserving the integrity and flow of the wall's narrative argues for keeping it intact rather than cutting it into pieces.
Ellis said she will ask ranch staff (Connor) to return with options describing possible relocation sites, whether the wall can move intact and what the logistical challenges would be.
The board was also briefed on several community events hosted at the ranch — a "Slam and Famine" fundraiser, a Colorado Mission of Mercy free dental event in September, and Honor Flight events in April and September — and on a proposal from ranch staff to offer reduced venue pricing to groups providing community services.
