Thistle Rock seeks county letter of support for Swiss Village DOLA funding; commissioners set work session
Summary
Thistle Rock and Swiss Village cooperators requested a county letter of support or commitment for a DOLA housing request (approximately $300,000). County staff scheduled a February work session to review the proposal and told commissioners they may prepare an expedited letter if the board signals support.

Thistle Rock Community Housing and representatives of Swiss Village are preparing a Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) funding request with an early-March deadline and have asked for a county letter of support or commitment.
County staff told the board Thistle Rock is assembling materials and that Swiss Village stakeholders expected to finalize an offer and submit initial DOLA paperwork by Jan. 18. The application deadline was cited as March 3; Thistle Rock has requested a letter of support and a possible letter of commitment for $300,000 to help close the financing gap.
Staff said a work session is scheduled in February to discuss the Thistle Rock request, and city representatives plan to attend. Commissioners agreed the board can provide a letter of support or a commitment letter if the board decides to do so after review. Staff suggested preparing a draft letter in the intervening time so that a letter could be provided quickly if the board signals preliminary support at the February meeting.
Ending
Staff will bring Thistle Rock's materials and a draft letter to the February work session for discussion. If the board wants a formal letter of support before the DOLA deadline, staff indicated they could draft one for board review and signature given the March 3 timeline.
