The board reviewed the first reading of the proposed 2025–26 Ferguson‑Florissant district calendar and administration said the draft was shaped to align student attendance days with Senate Bill 727.
Administration described stakeholder outreach and said parent and staff surveys informed choices about spring break timing and districtwide half days. Board member Jillian asked how parent feedback was incorporated; administration said roughly 60% of respondents favored half days and the committee balanced that preference against equity and staff professional‑development needs.
Committee members noted that the proposed calendar attempts to balance semester length even when holiday timing compresses schedules — for example, a later Labor Day in one draft would push midwinter dates and create an imbalance unless adjustments were made. The calendar also contains two proposed variants; administration presented both for board review.
The calendar was presented as a first reading only. Following negotiations with FFNEA and FFSE this spring, the calendar will return for a second reading and final approval. No formal vote on the calendar was taken at this meeting.
