Tempe Community Council reported an independent audit with a clean opinion, an $81,000 revenue surplus and nearly $1.9 million in net assets; board treasurer described fundraising plans including a $25,000 Together Tempe goal and the Tempe Community Foundation endowment balance.
Tempe Community Council reported a clean independent audit for fiscal year 2023–24, an $81,000 surplus and year-end net assets of nearly $1.9 million, and asked Mayor and council to support fundraising efforts including Together Tempe water-bill donations and outreach to businesses.
Nick Tomashock, TCC board treasurer, said the organization uses an independent accounting firm (4Leaf) and completed the fiscal-year audit with a clean opinion and “no internal controls issues.” He reported a revenue and income surplus of $81,000 for the year and fiscal-year-end net assets around $1,900,000.
Rabani Ferquan, vice chair of the TCC board, described the Tempe Community Foundation (TCF), an endowment managed by the Arizona Community Foundation that distributes grants to organizations serving Tempe residents; he said the current endowment balance is $1,600,000 and that TCF grants address hunger relief and wraparound needs for students and families. Ferquan urged the council to support outreach and a Together Tempe fundraising challenge aimed at raising $25,000 for 2025 through small-donation water-bill pledges and business contributions.
Council members responded positively and discussed approaches to solicit business and youth engagement for donations and volunteer support. TCC said contributions designated through Together Tempe and Healthy Giving support local human-services providers, and that agency review and donor cultivation remain program priorities.
