TCC hires ASU SERC for community needs assessment; forum set before May Council presentation

Tempe Community Council told the City Council it has contracted Arizona State University’s Southwest Interdisciplinary Research Center (ASU SERC) to conduct the triennial community needs assessment and expects to report findings to the City Council in May.
TCC said fieldwork began in June and has included a community survey, a survey of human-service professionals, focus groups for target populations (seniors, people experiencing homelessness and Spanish speakers) and key informant interviews. TCC described a community forum scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m. as the final data-collection opportunity.
The council and TCC discussed the assessment timeline and the planned prioritization process that will inform agency review and goal setting for funding decisions in the 2026–27 cycle.
Nancy Blevins, past chair of the TCC board, said the organization will “chew on” the data and complete analysis before presenting a set of priorities to City Council.
