The Jefferson County Board of Supervisors confirmed three appointments during its meeting.
By voice vote, the board confirmed Joan Fitzgerald to the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) for an indeterminate term following a motion by Supervisor Degner and a second by Supervisor Morris. The board later confirmed John Fox as director of facilities management after the county administrator introduced Fox and described the recruitment process. Fox, who said he holds a bachelor's degree in construction management and has roughly 20 years of facility planning and management experience, told the board he looks forward to starting on Monday.
The confirmation for Fox was moved by Supervisor Brago and seconded by Supervisor Jayco and was approved by voice vote. County materials noted that the previous director, Ryan Hayes, left Dec. 13 and that the county is completing a large courthouse renovation and undergoing an energy audit.
Separately, the board confirmed Mary Jo Shackleford to the Nutrition Project Council to fill a term ending Nov. 13, 2027. The Human Services Board requested the confirmation; the motion was seconded by Supervisor Lund and approved by voice vote.
Board leaders asked appointees to take good care of county facilities and wished them well. No nominations were declined and no roll-call tallies were recorded for these confirmations in the transcript.
