Human resources presented the county’s quarterly personnel update for the period mid‑November 2024 through mid‑February 2025 at the Feb. 11 Saline County commission meeting.
HR reported 14 new hires during the interval, including processing eight new rural firefighters and 156 election workers. The department recorded 15 employees who were no longer employed in that reporting period and computed a turnover rate of 3.1% for the interval. The HR presentation named four employees who completed 30‑hour OSHA training: Mark Talbot, Cody Showers, Derek Ehrinsman and the HR director.
The HR report said a premium holiday was provided to employees because of favorable claims experience; staff reported $54,400 of employee relief (the employees did not have normal payroll deductions in December) and $289,400 of employer relief provided in January. HR said it ended its 2024 budget year at 97.25% and that early 2025 figures showed favorable loss ratios for the county insurance programs.
Open recruitments listed in the report included an as‑needed home health homemaker, assistant attorney, patrol deputy and epidemiology/communicable disease nurse. HR said it will hold a job fair later in the month and will process an off‑site payroll as part of continuity-of-operations planning.
The board asked no follow‑up questions during the presentation and expressed appreciation for the report. HR made no requests for additional appropriations at the meeting.
