The board voted to approve the consent agenda, which included approval of tax roll adjustments, accounts payable, the public forum agenda, a budget transfer to move unused rental funds to cover increased insurance costs, a subagreement with the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce for legislative services, and a cybersecurity grant amendment. The motion carried after a roll call and a voice vote of “aye.”
On separate agenda items the board approved multiple vehicle and equipment purchases put out for bid by county departments: - Community Corrections: Purchase of a 2025 Chevrolet Traverse (all-wheel drive) from Home Automotive for $31,346 to replace a 2015 Ford Fusion; request identified as RFA 2025-16 and approved by motion. The director said the purchase was budgeted for this fiscal year. - Road & Bridge: Acceptance of the low or recommended bids for several fleet and chassis purchases, including a 2025 half-ton extended-cab pickup (Long McArthur Ford, $51,995; RFA 2025-10), a 1-ton crew cab chassis (Home Automotive, $49,785; RFA 2025-09), and a 2025 chassis cab truck for shop service (Stivers CDJR, $71,033; RFA 2025-17). Staff explained specification differences (for example, a V-8 engine requirement on one bid) and said some service bodies will be reused to save cost. Each item was approved by motion.
The board approved the recommended allocation process for the county''s annual alcohol excise grant funds (RFA 2025-06). County staff said state law requires dividing the allocation among the general fund, parks and recreation, and alcohol rehab/treatment activities; committee members recommended giving each applicant a pro rata share where applications exceeded the budgeted amounts.
