County opens 90-day public review of proposed fire hazard severity zone maps for Clear Lake, Lakeport and county jurisdictions

The County of Lake on Feb. 11 opened a 90-day public review period for proposed fire hazard severity zone maps covering Local Responsibility Areas in the City of Clearlake, the City of Lakeport and unincorporated Lake County.
Maria (Mireya) Turner, director of Community Development, told the board where the proposed maps and public-comment links are posted: ready.lakecountyca.gov. She provided email addresses for submitting comments by jurisdiction: Clearlake comments to info@clearlake.ca.us; Lakeport comments to admininfo@cityoflakeport.com; and county comments to resourceplanning@lakecountyca.gov. Turner also provided a staff contact phone number, (707) 263-2382, for questions.
Turner said the maps contain significant amendments and that the 90-day period is intended to gather a wide range of input before any final local action. The county will compile comments received during the review and return to the board with next steps as required by the notice and review process.
The public may view the proposed maps online and submit written comments to the addresses above during the 90-day public-comment window.
