Lake County opens 90-day public review of proposed fire hazard severity zone maps

Maria Turner, director of community development, announced the opening of a 90-day public review period for proposed fire hazard severity zones in local responsibility areas covering the City of Clearlake, the City of Lakeport and Lake County.

The proposed maps are posted at ready.lakecountyca.gov, Turner said, and the public may submit written comments by email. Turner gave contact points for each jurisdiction: Clearlake (infoclearlake@clearlake.ca.us), Lakeport (admininfo@cityoflakeport.com) and Lake County (resourceplanning@lakecountyca.gov). "I'd just like to take a moment to announce the opening of the public review period for the proposed fire hazard severity zones in the local responsibility areas in the cities of Clearlake, Lakeport, and Lake County jurisdictions," Turner said. The period is intended "to gather all input for the update of the fire severity maps," she added.

The announcement was delivered during the meeting’s public input segment; no formal vote or motion was recorded on the maps at that time. The presiding officer closed public comment after Turner finished.

The review period is an opportunity for residents, property owners and other stakeholders to examine proposed changes to areas designated for fire safety planning. Turner directed commenters to the posted maps and jurisdiction-specific contact emails for submitting feedback within the 90-day window.
