Shawnee County emergency officials plan after-action review following heavy snow

Nelson Castle, ambulance compliance officer for Shawnee County, briefed commissioners on Jan. 13 about recent snow-response operations and said the county will conduct an after-action review with ambulance and fire partners.
"There was some very good communication, collaboration, cooperation that went," Castle said, describing joint work over the prior 10 days after the storm. He told the board that parts of the College Hill area saw about 14.5 inches of snow and that county and city partners will meet to identify lessons learned.
Castle said the county will work with AMR and local fire departments on after-action items and will fold those lessons into planned spring collaborations. He invited commissioners to ask questions and said he stands ready to provide additional details when requested.
