Public Works to lease three 4x4 SUVs under five-year agreement with Enterprise

Shawnee County commissioners approved a five-year lease Jan. 9 for three small 4x4 SUVs from Enterprise Fleet Management for use by Public Works project managers.
Kearney, identified as director of Public Works during the discussion, told the board the department has leased administrative vehicles since 2020 and that the prior five-year lease expires in August. He said the department requires 4x4 capability and ground clearance for project managers and that the new vehicles match what the department has used previously. "Monthly would be approximately $500 a month" per vehicle if considering the new vehicles alone, Kearney said, and factoring in the value of returned lease vehicles would lower future lease costs by an estimated 40 to 50 percent.
Commissioner Bill Rippon moved for approval; Commissioner Aaron Mayes seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
Public Works will proceed with the five-year lease under the terms presented to the commission.
