Linn County health director reviews services, WIC outreach and schedule; AMR asks about contract renewal process

Snyder reported January client appointments and highlighted employee biometric screenings intended to support county health-insurance incentives. Upcoming events scheduled by the department include a baby-sprinkle event Feb. 14 (WIC and related services), a mammogram bus visit on Feb. 18 with limited appointments, WIC-on-wheels in Blue Mound on Feb. 20, and a KDHE preparedness workshop for public-health emergency preparedness on Feb. 20. She said website updates are nearly complete and that she will present grant applications (aid-to-local grants) to commissioners for signoff before submission.
AMR monthly report and contract renewal question: Dawn Brooks, representing AMR, gave call-and-transport totals for January: Blue Mound 6 calls/1 transport; Centerville 14 calls/4 transports; LaSine 24 calls/12 transports; Lynn Valley 13 calls/8 transports; Mound City 24 calls/11 transports; Pleasanton 29 calls/17 transports; Prescott 3 calls/1 transport; total 124 calls and 59 transports. Brooks told commissioners the county ambulance contract expires at the end of the year and asked about the county's preference for renewal process (direct negotiation vs. RFP). She said AMR would meet with its business-development staff and bring a proposal to the commission within one to two weeks if the county wanted an early draft.
