The Neosho County Commission welcomed Chastity as the county’s newly appointed clerk and approved a motion to issue a county credit card for the clerk's office with a $1,500 limit.
A commissioner moved that "we issue a credit card for the clerk's department in Chastity... limit of 1,500," the motion was seconded and approved. Commissioners discussed that some courthouse supplies are billed through a business Amazon account, reducing the need for large monthly card limits.
Board members also discussed training needs for the clerk’s office. The new clerk and other staff identified roughly $6,500 available for training by reallocating salary savings from previous staff vacancies. Commissioners encouraged using the funds for required training such as the KAC budget training and the Sanborn Academy clerk training scheduled soon. The commission noted that the clerk had removed training line items from her initial budget proposal and that the salary adjustments were made to free funds for professional development.
No additional formal spending authorizations beyond the credit card issuance were made at the meeting; commissioners said staff should proceed with arranging needed training and return with any requests that require additional board approval.
The board also approved a payroll clearing and minutes on the consent agenda earlier in the meeting. The payroll clearing totaled $302,447.16 and the motion passed with all commissioners voting in favor.
