East Grand Forks backs 2025 BUILD grant application for Bridal Crossing planning

The East Grand Forks City Council on Feb. 4 adopted a resolution endorsing the city’s 2025 BUILD grant application for planning activities related to the East Grand Forks–Grand Forks Bridal Crossing Project and authorized the city administrator to submit the application.
The resolution (No. 25-02-14) was moved by Council Member Karen Peterson and seconded by Council Member Tammy Schumacher. Staff member Reid told the council the application had been edited to reflect a federal program name change and was submitted last week under the BUILD name; the resolution will follow as formal council authorization. "This is largely just recognizing the name of the program being changed under the previous presidential administration. It was called the RAISE grama. That's what you all know it as," Reid said. Reid also told the council, "We anticipate hearing back on results of the grant application sometime by the June year." The council voted by roll call to adopt the resolution; the motion passed with all recorded votes in favor.
The staff comment in the meeting noted only modest changes to the program goals under the renamed BUILD program; no substantive amendments were offered to the resolution during council discussion. The council did not attach additional conditions or direction to staff in the motion. The outcome authorizes the city administrator to proceed with the application process and provides the council’s formal endorsement while the city awaits a federal decision, which staff said is expected by June.
