City staff presented a proposed bylaw update to move Parks and Recreation Commission regular meetings from monthly to quarterly; the commission has already approved the change and staff told council there is no budget impact.
The East Grand Forks City Council heard a proposal to amend the Parks and Recreation Commission bylaws to change regular meetings from monthly to quarterly during a Jan. 28 work session.
City staff said the commission approved the bylaw update and recommended the council approve it to make the change official. Staff also told the council there would be no budget impact from the change.
"Over the last, I suppose, 8 months, we've had the, talks along the with the Parks and Rec Commission about making an amendment to shift our meetings from a a once a month meeting to a quarterly meeting," said Mr. King, a staff member, describing the proposed change. He said the commission set designated months to align with the beginning and end of the city’s summer and winter activities so the schedule would better match seasonal programming.
Staff said the Parks and Recreation Commission has already approved the bylaw update and recommended the City Council approve the updated bylaws to make the change official. Council members asked no follow-up questions during the work session.
If the council approves the revision at a future meeting, the new schedule would take effect only after formal council action, staff said.
