The law director told commissioners the practical recourse for long-unpaid receivables may be litigation: "at the end of the day, it basically becomes a lawsuit," the law director said. Commissioners discussed that some cities’ payments may be tied to a five-year reassessment cycle and that staff were waiting for reassessment results before making final determinations about delinquency in some cases.
Commissioner Becker moved to authorize legal action to collect the outstanding receivables; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously. The law director will pursue the path of least resistance to collect the funds and report back to the commission.
