Sumner County commissioners discussed efforts to confirm whether property-assessor data from the Patriot system was returned to the county after Patriot was sold to Catalysis.
The law director reviewed the contract terms, citing a return-of-data clause and a separate clause that required the provider to copy and return county data in a commercially standard format within 10 working days of termination. The law director said portions of the contract appeared to require return of data but other clauses could be read to allow the provider not to retain data.
Commissioners reported that Robert Tuttle, the county IT director, told staff he had sent Patriot-era data to Catalysis for review on Jan. 28, but Catalysis had not yet reviewed or produced a readable, commercially standard copy. Staff said Catalysis opened a ticket and had not completed the review as of the meeting.
A motion was made requesting the county attorney draft a letter to Catalysis (the company that bought Patriot) asking Catalysis to confirm whether it provided the county data as required and to provide all county-owned data if it has not done so. Commissioners also asked the assessor’s office and IT director to confirm what data the county currently retains and to provide a status update to the commission.
Ending: Commissioners asked staff to seek a status report and to report back; the matter was placed for follow-up (March business) if Catalysis does not return readable data in a timely fashion.
