The Kenosha Redevelopment Authority on Feb. 25 nominated and approved additions to the Uptown East subcommittee to complete final edits of the Uptown redevelopment plan and directed the subcommittee to meet to finalize edits before returning to the full authority.
Staff briefed members that the Uptown East subcommittee — originally formed in September 2023 with membership that included Dennis Nelson and Shana Griffin — is intended as a smaller group to work through detailed edits and return recommended changes to the full authority. "A smaller group to really get down into the nitty gritty of the plan and look over the edits and the details of the plan," staff said.
Authority members volunteered and nominated additions. Member Lawrence Kirby was nominated and accepted; another nomination added Jacqueline Betzwitz to the subcommittee. The authority chair said the subcommittee will be noticed and limited to subcommittee business; a majority of authority members may attend but the subcommittee will not act on other authority business.
Staff said the subcommittee likely will hold one in-person meeting in this room — members may review draft edits in advance and bring suggested edits to the meeting. If more work is needed, staff said a second meeting may be scheduled.
The authority voted to confirm the subcommittee additions and directed staff to coordinate scheduling.
