Brentwood Conservation Commission backs revival of community "Brentwood Gathering" April 3 at recreation center

Members of the Brentwood Town Conservation Commission agreed to co-sponsor a revived community event called the Brentwood Gathering on April 3 at the recreation center, aiming to help residents learn about town committees and local nonprofits.

Commissioner Michelle said she reserved the rec center for April 3 and asked the commission to host an information table; she proposed inviting the Historical Society, Friends of the Library, Trails Committee, Garden Club and Recreation Commission, plus local nonprofits such as Austin 17 House and Hidden Pond Farm. Members expressed general support for the event and for treating it as low-maintenance: a table for the commission and open invitations for people to stop by and talk with committee representatives.

Michelle described an informal format including short icebreaker conversations so residents can meet committee members and learn about volunteer opportunities. Commissioners suggested making the event recurring and to publicize it on town channels; several members offered to help set up and staff the commission table. The commission agreed by consensus to participate and to coordinate further details by email ahead of the April date.

The commission did not allocate a specific budget line at the meeting but encouraged volunteers to assist with planning, setup and cleanup and asked Michelle to circulate a flyer draft for follow-up.
