Council members spoke in support. One councilmember said they had been given a tour of the neighborhood and recounted stories of Ms. Cox watching over children from her porch and advocating for neighborhood safety measures. Several councilmembers agreed to cosponsor the item before the vote.
Resident Miss Rowe stood to note family attendance at the meeting; she identified Shirley Robinson as her sister and thanked the council for their support during the item.
The clerk called the roll after the motion and second. The resolution passed by roll call 7-0 with the following recorded yes votes: Councilwoman Baskin; Councilwoman Leon; Councilwoman Pfau; Councilwoman Wilson; Councilwoman Julian; Vice Mayor Robert Stevens; Mayor Mia Harris.
