Quarter 2 safety report: two schools had correctable deficiencies; West and Nocatee earn recognition funds

School safety specialist Matthew McCray presented the district’s Quarter 2 safety report, telling the board that two schools were inspected during the period — "2 out of the 6" schools, which he said equates to 33% of schools under the district’s review process. McCray said neither inspected school met the report’s standard of having no deficiencies: "As far as number in, schools with no school safety requirement deficiencies were 0. So both schools had a little bit of deficiencies or infractions. They've all been corrected," he said.

Board members then recognized West Elementary and Nocatee for improved academic performance and planned distribution of school recognition funds. Dr. Bennett said West moved to a C grade and Nocatee moved "from a C to a B," and staff reported recent site visits to both campuses. Board member comments praised the schools and described opportunities for continued improvement.
The board did not vote on safety policy changes during the presentation. The remarks on safety were procedural reporting; the board’s substantive follow-up actions were limited to congratulating staff and approving routine items later in the meeting.
