The Oshkosh Common Council voted Feb. 11 to approve a zoning change and associated development plan for 536 Bayshore Drive.
Council approved an ordinance to change the property from an urban mixed‑use district to an urban mixed‑use district with a planned development overlay (Ordinance 205508) and separately approved a general development plan and specific implementation plan for professional and personal service use at the same address (Resolution 25.59). The Plan Commission had recommended approval.
Council members praised the proposed reuse of the building and its design. Council member Bresslinger called the plan “neat” and said the proposals would improve an area that, in places, “doesn't look the best.” Council member Flom congratulated applicant Tara and said she was excited to see the building reused. The ordinance and the development resolution each passed on recorded votes with Nichols, Larson, Eslinger, Flom and Buol voting aye.
Staff said the approval advances the reuse of an existing building and implements a plan that includes graphic and site details presented to the Plan Commission.
The council also approved a separate resolution to authorize professional services as needed for project implementation (item discussion associated with the same property was brief and positive).
