El Segundo Education Foundation reports student-program wins, gala and spring appeal timeline

Caban congratulated the ESMS Model UN team for earning four accommodations at a December conference, noted that the cooking academy and the senior biomed Shark Tank presentations were successful, and thanked sponsors including Chevron and Kite for underwriting programs.
She said the foundation's spring community appeal began Feb. 1 but that distribution of lawn signs was delayed until the end of the month to allow affected families time after recent fires. The foundation also expects summer-academy class information to roll out soon and encouraged families to register.
Caban announced the foundation gala will be held Friday, May 9 from 6 to 11 p.m. and invited board members and community supporters to attend.
