Council moves July meeting to July 15 and schedules budget hearing priorities

The council also agreed to begin budget hearings immediately following the July 15 regular meeting and to reserve that first hearing day to consider salaries, benefits and compensation first. The body tentatively scheduled follow-up hearings on August 12 and additional days later in August; the council kept August 20 as a backup date.
Council members asked staff to confirm availability with finance staff and auditors (Baker Tilly was referenced) and to return a final hearing calendar for publication. The council did not adopt a multi-day hearing schedule as a formal ordinance; the action taken was a voice vote to change the July meeting date and a direction to hold budget hearings beginning July 15.
