The Terrell City Council on Feb. 11 approved a slate of appointments and reappointments to multiple boards and commissions and postponed one item to allow additional recruitment.
City Secretary Don Stahl reviewed rosters and term expirations before council votes. The council reappointed Hillary Hassell, Sarah Kegers, Tory Lucas and Mary McCoy to the Park & Downtown Improvement Corporation (motion by Mayor Pro Tem Stephanie Holmes Thomas; second by Donna Renee Anderson). The motion passed unanimously with those present.
The Planning & Zoning Commission reappointment motion for Gabriel Cabrera also carried unanimously (motion from Mayor Ronnie Velasquez; second from Phil Robinson). Two additional vacancies remained for Planning & Zoning and staff said they would follow up with applicants who have applied.
The Park Board reappointed Caroline Brown and Kelsey Bridal (motion by Mayor Ronnie Velasquez; second by Donna Renee Anderson). The Library Advisory Board reappointed Angie Cooper (motion by Mayor Pro Tem Stephanie Holmes Thomas; second by Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Phil Robinson). The Zoning Board of Adjustments reappointed Matthew Hancock (motion by Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Phil Robinson; second by Mayor Pro Tem Stephanie Holmes Thomas).
The Building & Standards Commission appointments were postponed at staff request to allow time for revamping that board’s membership; council voted to postpone the agenda item until the next meeting so staff can gather membership materials and present an updated slate.
All reappointment motions on the consent/appointments items carried unanimously by those present, and staff said email confirmations and roster updates would be included in the next council packet.
