The Logansport Board of Works and Public Safety approved a series of routine and contract items at its Feb. 12 meeting, including park equipment and installation, paving work at Spencer Park, a July 4 music performance agreement, title and lien search services for property transfers, and two police promotions.
The board began by approving the minutes of its Feb. 5 meeting and claims totaling $216,324.22. Councilman Morris brought forward an application to pursue a National Register nomination for Memorial Hall; the board approved moving forward with the West Garner National Register application to coordinate with the State Historic Preservation Office.
Park-related contracts approved included a Sinclair Recreation playground installation at the south side of Spencer Park, equipment and installation agreements with a contractor identified as Sinclair Recreation, a storage barn installation contract with Friel's Home Improvements to store seasonal displays and supplies, a cement floor agreement with MR Louthman and Associates, and paving services from Central Paving Incorporated covering park drives and parking pads. The board approved a contract to install playground equipment and contracts to secure paving and contractor prices for the park work.
The board also approved a performance agreement for Ryan Tyler/Real Nice Music LLC for a July 4 performance, title and lien searches through Cass County Title and related title work for two properties to be deeded to Habitat for Humanity and a farmers market property to be transferred to a community foundation, and an agreement authorizing a curb/street cut for Prime Drain and Plumbing LLC at 504 Taney Street following an emergency sewer repair.
Routine departmental items approved included the planning department's annual report for 2024, the rental property inspector's January report, the police department's January monthly report, the street department's January report and the code enforcement weekly report. The board approved promotions for Tanner Prentice to sergeant and Matt McIntyre to corporal within the police department; both promotions were presented by police leadership and accepted by the board.
Two property-cleanup items were addressed in public hearing: the board closed the matter for 431 Schultz Street after staff confirmed the property had been cleaned, and it approved a cleanup order for 2203 North Street, where staff said the property is in foreclosure and staff had received no response from owners.
All listed approvals were adopted by voice vote with Miss Martin, Levi Jones and Chris Martin recorded as voting yes unless otherwise noted in the meeting record. No contested votes or amendments to motions were recorded in the transcript.
