District reports staffing vacancies, discusses meter‑reading tech and approves purchase orders

During the Feb. 11 meeting, Plymouth Village Water and Sewer District staff reported two vacant positions—an operator and a lab technician—and said recruitment ads have been posted and initial applications were received.

Speaker 3 said the district has posted the openings for a couple of weeks and currently had one applicant for each position; staff will wait a short period before filling the posts. Board members acknowledged it can be hard to fill these roles.

The meeting included an extended discussion about meter technology and leak detection. Staff described the district’s electronic meters and new software installed last year that reads the town’s meters within a few hours and allows spot‑checking between quarterly reads. Staff said full, real‑time monitoring is not yet available system‑wide but the vendor can pilot automatic meter reading and remote monitoring for landlords or selected accounts; such systems are currently expensive and must be pursued by individual customers or deployed via a district pilot.

On routine procurement, the board approved purchase orders from multiple vendors. Speaker 1 read aloud vendor names and amounts: F W Webb ($356.32 and $25), Rogers Well ($341.00), Clean Waters ($9,680.00), Sanitary Equipment Companies ($399,542.50; noted as partially reimbursable by grant), Witcher Rubbish Removal ($1,704.00), MSC Industrial Supply ($457.39), TI Sales ($1,582.32), and EII ($650.00 for a replacement power supply). The board voted to accept the purchase orders.

Staff reminded the public that voting day is March 11 and the district’s annual meeting is scheduled for March 13 at 6 p.m. at the business office.

No further action was taken beyond scheduling and routine approvals.
