Plymouth Select Board opened and closed a public hearing and voted to accept $11,812.50 from the New Hampshire Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management to update the town's hazard mitigation plan.
Scott Wheaton explained the town's current hazard mitigation program expires in October 2026 and the state encourages communities to begin the update process more than a year in advance. He said the board has already signed required paperwork and that Jane Hubbard of Hubbard Consultant — a firm previously used by the town — is willing to work with Plymouth on the update.
Wheaton told the board the grant appropriation is slightly larger than expected and that the town's planned expenditures for the program will be about $9,000. "There's a portion of our cost. The total cost is around $9,000. They appropriate 11,812 based on what commonly is needed, but our expenditures will be about 9 the the program from this grant will be about $9,000," Wheaton said.
If accepted, staff said they would begin work in October 2025 and aim for completion and FEMA acceptance in October 2026. Following public and board questions, a member moved to accept the funds; the board approved the acceptance during the meeting.
