The Georgia House Ways & Means Committee approved House Bill 112, a tax-rebate measure the floor sponsor described as part of a broader package returning roughly $7.6 billion to Georgia taxpayers.
Leader McDonald, presenting HB 112, described the bill as a rebate for eligible taxpayers for tax years 2023 and 2024 and said the legislation had been vetted by the Ways & Means subcommittee. “This is the tax rebate that's going back to Georgians,” Leader McDonald said. He described payments of $500 for married filing jointly, $375 for head of household and $150 for single filers.
Committee members offered no extended debate on the measure. A motion and second were made; the committee approved HB 112 by voice vote.
The sponsor said the bill complements other measures aimed at returning revenue to taxpayers; the transcript records no amendments or fiscal-score discussion during the meeting.
The committee then moved on to the next items on the agenda.
