The Solon Board of Education on Feb. 10 authorized staff to execute a purchase option agreement with Lori Ann Weaver, trustee of the Lori Ann Weaver Trust, for the property at 33275 Arthur Road in Solon (parcel 954-12-023 in Cuyahoga County records).
District staff told the board the property owner contacted the district last year offering the option to sell. Staff said the parcel is directly adjacent to district-owned land and that acquiring it would create a contiguous parcel that could ease future construction plans, limit the district’s dependence on neighboring parcels for variances and make the district “its own neighbor” for city processes.
The presenter said the district evaluated fair market price and is seeking the purchase option to secure the site; options discussed for the property if acquired included renting it or using it as an interim facility until the land is needed for construction. The board approved the recommended authorization to execute the option agreement by roll-call vote.
No purchase price was presented at the meeting; the motion authorized execution of an option agreement only. The board’s approval directs staff to complete the option paperwork and continue due diligence.
