Mayor’s Ball set at $100 per ticket; committee picks Roaring Twenties theme and adds table discount

The committee set the ticketing structure and theme for the Mayor’s Ball, a flagship Centennial fundraiser.

Why it matters: Ticket pricing, theme and table sales shape attendance, revenue and the event’s ability to cover entertainment, photography and other costs. The committee also discussed which dignitaries to invite and how many comped seats to provide.

After staff and members reviewed Spartan Manor’s pricing and service charges, the committee discussed raising the ticket price from an initial proposal of $65 to $85 or $100 to ensure event costs (food, entertainment, desserts and venue charges) are covered. By consensus the committee settled on $100 per person for an individual ticket. The committee also agreed to allow table purchases with a modest discount — a $50 discount per table (for an 8-seat table) to encourage group sales — and to offer sponsor tables (8–10 seats) at the sponsor levels specified in the sponsorship packet.

On theme and programming the committee favored a Roaring Twenties motif for decorations and attire, with colors proposed as black, white and gold. Staff will meet Spartan Manor on March 1 for menu selection and to finalize décor and production details; Spartan contact Daphne will provide final pricing on beef vs. chicken entrée costs prior to that meeting. The committee asked staff to produce an invitation and RSVP process that allows guests to indicate entrée choice and to specify table assignment at purchase.

Ending: The committee instructed staff to prepare ticket copy and a sales page reflecting the $100 price, to confirm meal-price differentials with Spartan Manor, and to generate a guest/invitation list that includes the mayor, county and state representatives and other dignitaries. Staff will bring finalized ticket language and a draft invitation to the next meeting.
