The Doña Ana County Board of County Commissioners approved all items on the consent agenda unanimously at its Feb. 11 meeting, the county’s public information office said in a meeting recap.
Anita Skipper, Doña Ana County’s chief public information officer, also summarized several county updates: the Bridal Triad Center (referred to in the recap as the CTC) reopened last month and is fully staffed; county staff reported 97 guests served to date, including 28 guests during the first 11 days of February. Two proclamations were issued at the meeting: a Black History Month proclamation presented to Mitchell Boyer, a descendant of Frances and Ella Boyer of the Blackdom homesteader colony (founded in 1908), and a proclamation recognizing National Engineers Week. Mitchell Boyer was joined at the recognition by Dr. Bobby Green and Howard Guyan of the Doña Ana County NAACP office, according to the recap.
The county also announced upcoming events and schedule changes: the consultants for the roadway safety study will host an outreach booth at New Mexico State University on Feb. 12; the Board is holding more work sessions to allow deeper pre-meeting discussions, with the next work session scheduled for March 9; a county staff development retreat is scheduled April 23–25; and a State of the County address is planned for May 6.
Why it matters: the consent agenda approval keeps routine county business moving, the Bridal Triad Center’s reopening indicates operational capacity for client services, and the proclamations and public events represent scheduled community outreach and civic recognition.
The recap did not include the text of consent-agenda items or list votes by individual commissioners.
