Doña Ana County announced at its Feb. 11 meeting that it has completed a $20 million expansion of taxiways at Doña Ana County International Jetport and upgraded fast-charging capacity at public electric vehicle stations.
Anita Skipper, Doña Ana County’s chief public information officer, said the jetport taxiway expansion was completed and that the county’s Government Center fast-charging stations on North Motel Boulevard are now paired for a maximum 125-kilowatt output. Skipper said pairing the chargers doubles the output available per charge session and shortens vehicle dwell time. The Anthony charging station was also reported to be back online after being down for a week.
Why it matters: the jetport expansion represents a multi-million-dollar infrastructure investment in county aviation facilities. The EV charging upgrades are intended to reduce user wait times at public chargers.
The meeting recap did not list contract details, funding sources for the jetport expansion, or formal board votes tied to the announcements.
