Bond projects on schedule: classroom additions and new PAC, plus parking increases at multiple schools

Jason, a district facilities/construction staff member, presented a bond‑project update showing progress across secondary and elementary campus work.

Highlights included work at the Career Innovation Center, where the throwing‑events/gymnastics lab is expected to be ready by spring, and the Brittany Hill Middle School PAC/storm shelter where precast is complete. Jason reported added parking spaces at several project sites: Brittany Hill (+57), Delta Woods (+59), Moreland Ridge (+26) and PKMS (+54). He said projects remain on schedule and on budget despite recent weather days, and that contractors are using available weather‑day allowances and extended hours to stay on track.

Elementary upgrades include William Yates (four new classrooms, two for special education, and counseling space), Franklin Smith (front entry, office, teacher work room, conference room and counseling offices), and James Walker (new front entry, office, conference room and a new art room). William Yates had a retaining‑wall issue that crews addressed and staff said the classroom additions remain on track to be ready for the next school year. Jason said Franklin Smith’s new library/media center and James Walker’s art room have scheduling milestones tied to spring break moves to allow phased work.

Board members asked site‑specific questions about timing and parking. Staff said they will provide project materials to board members by mail and continue to report status at board meetings; no formal contract changes or votes were taken at the work session.
