During the public-audience portion of the meeting, residents urged the Board of Selectmen to make minutes and related materials more accessible and to include meeting transcripts and submitted correspondence as part of the official record.
Susan Messina, of 41 Madison Lane, recommended appending SCTV transcripts and written correspondence to the minutes so residents could follow debates and see what others have written to the town. “Without a newspaper, your meeting is the historical record for the town,” Messina said.
On other public comments, Joan Coe criticized a $30,000 CNR appropriation for an equity audit and called for removal of all DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) funding and practices from town and school activities. Later, in the same public-comment block, Coe also expressed concern about the proposed construction material for pickleball courts at Carrickville Court and urged the town to consider cement courts to reduce future maintenance costs and avoid building in floodplain areas.
Board members later approved a motion that timestamps be added to agenda sections in the minutes to help residents locate items in the video record.
