Liz, a district staff member, told the board at its work session that February 1 was the deadline for certificated staff to submit retirement paperwork to qualify for the district retirement benefit and she presented a snapshot of current departures and staffing work.
The district is reporting, as of the presentation, 8 elementary retirements and one elementary resignation (plus one year-long leave), four middle‑school retirements and one middle‑school resignation, and 14 high‑school retirements. Liz said resignations remain low so far — “just 3” — but reminded the board certificated staff have until June 1 to submit resignations, so totals could change before the end of the school year. She also said leaves of absence can convert to resignations after the leave period ends.
The presentation compared this year’s early totals with the prior two years and showed a downward trend from the larger totals reported previously. Liz said the district is “working hard to find replacements” and that hiring efforts are going well.
Board members had no substantive objections and thanked staff for the update. The district did not take formal action or adopt a new policy during the work session; the numbers presented were informational.
