The Senate adopted S 312, a resolution declaring Feb. 19, 2025, as Professional Engineers Day in South Carolina, and adopted concurrent resolution H 3724 recognizing National FFA Week and South Carolina FFA members. The reading clerk recorded both adoptions: “Ayes have it. The resolution is adopted.”
A point of order was raised under Senate Rule 39 regarding a group of bills (including S 28, S 29, S 35, S 38, S 74, S 143, S 180 and S 271) that had not been on the calendar the required amount of time. The point of order was sustained and those bills were removed from consideration under Rule 39 for this session. Senator Corbin made the point of order; the chair sustained it.
The Transportation Committee reported favorably on a statewide appointment to the Department of Transportation Commission, at-large seat, for Dr. James Bridal Blackwell of Rock Hill; the floor record shows the committee report was received. The clerk also announced there were 36 members present at the time the roll call was completed; a quorum was present.
