Charice Rhodes, executive assistant to Inglewood Mayor James Butts, formally announced her resignation at a City Council meeting and said her last official day will be Feb. 28, 2025.
Rhodes told the council she was grateful for the opportunity to serve and said that working under the mayor “has been nothing short of transformative.” She described her departure as the start of a new chapter in which she will open a brand management and community‑initiatives consulting business.
Mayor Butts introduced Rhodes and lauded her work connecting the administration with younger residents. Assembly member Tina McKenna’s office presented a certificate thanking Rhodes for her service.
Council members and other elected officials praised Rhodes for her professionalism and mentorship. Councilwoman Gray called Rhodes’s decision “a big step” and commended her courage. Calvin Padilla said he wished her continued success and noted the move would help her provide for her family. Multiple council members said Rhodes had proven herself and would remain part of the Inglewood community.
Rhodes expressed continued commitment to the city’s growth and said she planned to keep collaborating with Inglewood in her new role. The mayor closed the public portion of the meeting by thanking Rhodes and recessing to closed session.
