The Events and Commemorations Committee approved minutes from its Sept. 19, 2024 meeting, postponed consideration of a citizen recognition nomination and agreed to add periodic Fourth of July planning updates to future agendas during its Jan. 16 meeting.
At the start of the meeting a committee member moved to approve the Sept. 19, 2024 minutes and another member seconded the motion; a roll call recorded Missus Cooper and another member voting yes and the motion was recorded as approved. Later in new business, members reviewed a citizen recognition nomination; the committee chair said the nomination packet is lengthy and moved to postpone the item so another committee member could read the application and the nominator could attend the next meeting to speak on the nomination’s behalf.
Committee members also discussed Fourth of July planning and the “sizzle” volunteer effort; staff said they had drafted a memo capturing lessons learned from last year’s major events and had shared it with the chair and safety forces and would present a committee structure and plan when feedback is returned. Members agreed to place Fourth of July updates as a standing item on future agendas.
At the meeting’s close a member moved to adjourn, the motion was seconded, roll call recorded two yes votes and the chair declared the meeting adjourned.
