The Events and Commemorations Committee reviewed plans for Eagle Adventure Camp during its Jan. 16 meeting, including schedule, facility use and pick-up procedures.
Staff said the camp is in its third year and will follow a Monday–Friday schedule with sessions in June and a session July 7–18; setup commonly begins at 7 a.m. Committee members were told the camp primarily uses school facilities for meetings and pick-up and that fees collected are returned to the school. Staff said an early-morning pickup option will be offered for an additional fee.
A committee member who identified as a parent said the program has been busy but that past years’ drop-off and pickup have not produced unsafe parking or instances of people parking on grass or streets. Staff confirmed they have not received complaints about traffic flow at drop-off and pickup. Committee members asked staff to monitor any issues and to confirm that porta potty arrangements will be available when needed for field activities.
Committee members agreed the program does not need City Council approval and that operational oversight remains with events staff and the school. No formal vote was recorded on the item at the meeting.
