The Public Utilities Commission’s pipeline safety program told commissioners Feb. 12 that it has implemented the recommendations from a 2023 legislative performance audit and described steps to continue improving inspection practices, recordkeeping and inspector training.
Casey Hensley, section manager for the PUC’s pipeline program, said the audit resulted in 39 recommendations across 12 categories and that the program and Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) have completed all items. “As discussed in the Legislative Audit Committee hearing on 12/09/2024, the audit resulted in 39 recommendations across 12 categories,” Hensley said.
Hensley told commissioners the audit prompted three broad changes: rewritten program guidelines that standardize inspections and compliance procedures; a new centralized data management system called OnBase for tracking inspections, investigations and compliance…
