The Rules and Public Policy Committee of the North College Hill City Council discussed scheduling for a time-limited Charter Review Commission and a joint meeting with the Planning Commission, and asked the Planning Commission to prioritize its proposed changes.
Committee members said the Charter Review work will be time-limited — members referenced a roughly six‑month deadline — and discussed meeting every two weeks for several months to meet that timeline. The committee agreed to try to schedule an initial Charter Review meeting on an evening in late February and asked staff to reserve a 6:30 p.m. start for the first session while they finalize member availability.
Committee members also discussed a joint meeting with the Planning Commission to review a set of recommended additions to the comprehensive plan. Planning commissioners had proposed 10–11 recommended items; the committee asked the Planning Commission to prioritize that list and suggested designating 90 minutes for the joint session so the top items could be addressed first.
The committee chair said she would ask that the planning commission meeting request be added to the Feb. 18 council meeting agenda so council could confirm whether the Planning Commission should meet with the full council on an evening in late February. Staff and council members discussed avoiding Tuesdays and noted Mondays and Wednesdays were preferable for several participants.
Committee members agreed to follow up by confirming availability and publishing a meeting time after collecting prioritized items from the Planning Commission and from the Charter Review appointees. Several members emphasized the utility of meeting on Mondays because the council calendar already reserves that night.
The committee said it will also request recordings of the upcoming council and commission meetings when possible so absent members and the public can review proceedings.
